Abrasive Wheels – ‘Cut-off Saws’ and ‘Grinders’ (Portable Tools)
INTRODUCTION
The use of abrasive wheels, particularly “cut-off” saw’s and grinding tools are common to all construction sites and civil engineering.
This course of training will enable users to inspect and safely handle such equipment; and ensure that they can select and change the cutting or grinding disc and select the appropriate personal protective equipment to reduce the risk of personal injury

- Legislation
- Accident statistics
- Types of discs and marking system
- Inspecting for damage
- Machine inspection and function of all components
- Selecting the correct disc and fitting requirements
- Personal Protective Equipment and selection criteria
- Safe use of the machine
PARTICIPANTS
Maximum 10 delegates per course.
All users of portable cutting and grinding tools who are required to select and change abrasive wheels

0.5 Day (3½ hours)
GRANT
Construction companies who are ‘in-scope’ to the ConstructionSkills may be able to claim a training grant.
