TRAINING COURSE FACT SHEET
Confined Space Entry Using Escape Sets
FOR WHOM INTENDED
The training is intended for persons who are required themselves to enter, or supervise others to enter confined spaces, such as chambers, vats, silos, pumping stations, culverts, sewers, service ducts and excavations.
COURSE AIMS
The aim of the training course is to train and assess selected persons in the skills and knowledge required to achieve the standards of competence to identify confined space hazards. Implement safe working procedures for confined space entry. Use and respond to atmosphere monitoring equipment. Prepare and use Saver Demand Flow Breathing Apparatus
OBJECTIVES
Using live or simulated conditions and at the end of the course, each course member will be able to:
- Identify the hazards associated with confined spaces
- Understand the relevant Health and Safety legislative requirements
- Select, wear, check and use the correct personal protective equipment
- Identify known and unknown gas atmospheres
- Check, use and respond to atmosphere monitoring equipment
- Understand and work to a permit to work/enter; and safe working procedures for confined space entry
- Inspect, clean, assemble, don and wear escape breathing apparatus
- Work as a member of a team and implement a safe exit in the event of an emergency
Training will be carried out at our ‘Partner’ training centre at either Blyth or at Hartlepool
DURATION
1 Day
ASSESSMENT
Delegates will be assessed throughout the day and will need to successfully complete the end of course exam before a certificate of competence can be issued.
COURSE PRE-REQUISITE
The course can be physically demanding during the practical exercises. Therefore the delegate or the employer will be required to sign a ‘declaration of fitness’ before being accepted onto the course.
