Construction Skills Site Safety Plus
Safety Awareness for Construction Operatives
INTRODUCTION
This one day health and safety awareness course is intended to develop an understanding of construction health and safety for various occupations working in the industry and to enable them to improve their knowledge of health and safety issues that apply to their particular area of work.
COURSE AIMS
To raise the level of health and safety awareness when working within the construction industry to enable delegates to contribute to effective health and safety management while working on site. This course will also highlight the benefits of the CSCS Scheme to both employers and employees.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Construction company personnel (all occupations open to registration), who wish to register under the scheme. The course is also suitable for delegates who do not want to register under the scheme, but who want to raise their level of health and safety knowledge.
OBJECTIVES
At the end of the course, delegates will understand:-
- Their duties/responsibilities under the current legislation;
- How and why the construction industry continues to have a poor accident record; and how they can contribute to making the industry a safer place to work;
- Why employers need to set up safe systems of work; and why employees need to follow these systems and obey site rules;
- That health and welfare issues are as important as safety. This will be emphasised as each course topics are addressed.
- How to select and properly use Personal Protective Equipment
- Safe Work at Height Issues
- Other construction related topics health and safety requirements

ACHIEVEMENT MEASUREMENT
A 'Pre-Test' questionnaire will be used at the start of the course to measure delegates existing health and safety knowledge. A 'Post Course' multiple choice test will be used at the end of the course to measure delegate’s new health and safety knowledge.
CERTIFICATION
Delegates who successfully complete the course will be issued with a nationally recognised certificate by Construction Skills Site Safety Plus.
