TRAINING COURSE FACT SHEET

Fire Marshal Training Course

INTRODUCTION

The Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations 1997 (as amended) require virtually all employers to carry out fire risk assessments of their workplaces and to nominate a sufficient number of competent persons (‘fire marshals’) to implement the procedures identified in those assessments.

In April 2006, The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 came into effect to become the sole piece of legislation dealing with all aspects of fire safety in England and Wales. This legislation again requires that a sufficient number of competent persons are made available to implement procedures for the safe evacuation of relevant persons from the premises.
